Week 1

Fire Prevention Week 2010 Daycare visit
I have been working odd hours the first part of the week and it is Fire Prevention Week so there have been a lot of extra activities to do but I have really tried to start my quest.  I have worked out for approximately 2 hours so far since Monday, and I am being generous at that.  Monday we had a lot of school and daycare visits and also a city wide fire drill in Polk City so we were all really busy with that.
I did have to put on my turnout gear several time so that is a bit of a work out and is working toward the goal that I have in mind.  I think that as long as I am moving forward with my goal then it is progress.  The beginning of this week has been tough though with the odd working hours and the amount of busy work at the fire station.  I will press forward and look forward to what this has in store for me.
I have been talking to a lot of people about the 801 Power Climb and the Polk City Fire Department is putting together a team to compete this year and it should be a good time.  It will be a lot of hard work but will be worth it in the end.
My interview essay was with another Firefighter that has completed the challenge.  It was good to get another persons perspective on how to do it and what challenges they face.  I didn't think about how stale the air would be in the stairwell but now that Nate talked about it, it has me thinking too.
